THE ENDURO

Well what an event to finish with the Enduro was a massive event and one I think will be a main stay for the NSW Tassco Challenge. With all driving falling in love with the event and with pitcrews loving the oppitunty to flex some muscle

Qualifying

was quite the mind play with some teams looking at the two sprint races with glee and others focusing on the big prize of the one hour .Luke Westall  fired off a good 1.23.7 a fast time a good sprint race time and this gave Luke his 4th Micheal Seal Automotive Pole award for 2007, 2nd Place was Adam Hughes with a 1.24.6 not his fastest time round Oran but never the less he was "very happy with the time , we look very strong " comments . 3rd Place late charger Mathew Newman with a 1.26.9 with new boy Mario Terrie with a 1.28.7 taking 4th ,Warren Younan rounded out the Challenge feild with a 1.28.9 while Dean Kelland appear in grid without points with a 1.25.0

Race 1

With Luke looking very sprinty and make a fantastic Westall start was never head and took 1st place this putting one hand on the 2007 NSW title while Adam and Dean fought all race dean did pip Adam on track Adam took 2nd place to a with Mathew taking 3rd place and Warren having a dnf , Mario did not start

Race 2

Again Luke was flawless taking the win and the 2007 NSW Challenge Title ( well done Luke and all at LWR a classy effort all year and rightfull champs ) . Adam had handling issues as a lower camber bolt wound off (guess whats not going to be there in 08 ) but was still able to bring it home for 2nd . Mathew having a stellar event brought the car home in 3rd to Warren in 4th & Mario was a dns

Race 3 THE FINAL (enduro)

Luke again went out hard and took an early lead with Adam in chase until lap 21 when Adam (HRE) took an early stop leaving Luke to his own Adam rentered in front of Mathew in 3rd who pitted on lap 15 and was on the long slog home .Luke had a good gap but was yet to pit .Luke pitted on lap 25 and rejoined ahead of Mathew in 2nd place some two car head on track of Mathew but one car adrift to Adam in 1st place and Adam responded with some faster paced laps . Luke hit the track running but in doing so damaged his panhard rod and repitted on lap 27 culling his day, Adam settled into a groove the team put down and started to mow down the cars in front to win the event (Tascco Challenge ) and to come from 16th on track to 7th and take 2nd outright Saloon . Mathew 1 lap down to Adam took 2nd place (Mathew had the most mechincal issues this year and  drove a stellar weekend) and took a fantastic 3rd place on another note congrats to the boys at HUGHES RACING ENTERPRISES both Nathan Fitton and Chris Fitton who carried both Adam and Mathew's pitstop so double time was done and set the fastest time in the Challenge field and saloon field

Race 1

Was a tight race with both Westall and Hughes only apart by a bumper most of the race until a turn nine rub . Round 2 ORAN PARK

A CHANGE UP FRONT

A small but tight grid was present for Rd2 but troubles where in the air
wth two of the cars running bridgestones one being a memeber Luke Hannan was given a minor infrigement notice to be allowed to run but for no points in the Challenge the other Dean Kelland was a non member .

Qualifying

was tight at the top with Luke Westall now powered by a croft engine was fast out of the blocks but stuck the car into the turn 2 sandtrap on his 4th lap but was able to do the job with a 1.22.6 followed by Adam Hughes with a 1.23.3 next on grid was Dean Kelland with a 1.23.8 with Luke Hannan with a fine drive on a 1.24.6 Warren Younan followed up with a 1.27.1 with early signs of streeing issues

Race 1

With the top three just over a sec apart a close race was on the cards
until Hughes had another poor start and drop from 2nd toThird behind Luke Hannan mean Kelland had his own problems with a combined car dropping him to 4th from 3rd, Westall was showing a clean pair of heels up front with Hannanand Hughes in toe followed by Kelland and Younan who was shown real skill keeping the car on track with his rack binding up . By lap two Hughes had made his move on Hannan this made it Westall ,Hughes,Hannan Kelland, Younan. On starting lap 4 Hughes suffered a gearbox failure on the main straight and rolled the car to a dnf and the gokart track ,Westall unchallenged skip of to a 11 sec lead which he maintained to take 1st place in what was a controlled drive ,2nd place was the hot spot with Kelland having a diced with a combined car (coming to blows / dents ) and disposed now came after Hannan but with 2 laps remaing just had to much to do and Hannan took 2nd with a 4 sec gap to Kelland followed by Younan

with both Hannan and Kelland having minor infrigements the result was

1st Westall
2nd Younan
3rd Hughes (dnf)
4th Hannan (minor infrigement )
5th Kellamd (minor infrigement non member)

Race 2

Westall stormed to a early lead but was soon hounded but Hannan with Hughes in toe from rear of grid ,Kelland on the other hand was in Combined car hell with XR8's and v8 street sedan putting pay to his foward movement and final was put out with mechanical issues , Younan with rack issue behind was making great time unitl a right front tyre parted with car and caused a dnf and a saftey car .This bunched the grid with Westall,Hannan and Hughes nose to tail on the restart Hughes was a opening at turn three as Westall covered his line on a attacking Hannan, Hughes dived to the inside and the door closed causing Hannan and Hughes to make contact turning Hannan around and damaging the steering on Hughes car , Hughes made hay after Westall but to no avail as Westall took 1st place but some 9sec from Hughes to Hannan

with both Hannan and Kelland having minor infrigements the result was

1st Westall
2nd Hughes
3rd Younan (dnf)
4th Hannan (minor infrigement )
5th Kelland (minor infrigement non member)

Race 3

Westall making a good start lead but Hannan make a Great start jumped Hughes to Kelland to Younan whiched it stayed for the bulk of the race until Younan dnf'd with only 3 laps to go Kelland again in Combined hell maintain 4th place until the end .Up front Westall, Hannan , Hughes where with .5 of a sec for over 6 laps until a move was put on and shut down off the bridge between Westall and Hannan , turning Hannan around (again) which left Westall and Hughes to go at it again but the Hannan car stalled and bought out the saftey car . Hughes was thinking this was the moment until a massvie brake shudder happen in the Saftey car period which after the race was found to be a cracked rotor on the restart Hughes had no answer to Westall who took 1st by 4sec . Westall took the clean sweep in what was a well deserved drive over the weekend .

with both Hannan and Kelland having minor infrigements the result was

1 Westall
2 Hughes
3 Younan
4 Hannan (minor infrigement )
5 Kelland (minor infrigement non member)

moment off the bridge for luke

Eastern Creek round 1

HRE STARTS 2007 WITH SUCCESS

Quailfing

saw a close battle for the Micheal Seal Automotive Pole award between Adam Hughes and luke Westall with Adam taking Pole and the award just 4/100s head of luke Westall with Rookie Luke Hannan taking 3rd with fellow newcomer Glen Kenny just 3/100s of a sec behind in 4th . Mathew Newman was stuggling with understeer in 5th and Warren Younan learning his way in 6th . The track was very green from heavy showers on the friday

Pole Hughes, 2nd Westall, 3rd Hannan, 4th Kenny, 5th Newman, 6th Yuonan

Race 1

Was very hard fought up front with Westall making a flying start to grab the lead from Hughes make a shocking start dropping back to 2nd , Westall lead lap one till Hughes took the lead back on lap two at the turn 9 hairpin
Westall chased hard till a gear level snap on lap three , Glen Kenny further back was putting in soild laps now taking 2nd with Westall dismise Hannan was showning great form in his first race with a strong 3rd and both Newman and Younan had spins and finished 4th and 5th repectively

1st Adam Hughes
2nd Glen Kenny
3rd Luke Hannan
4th Mathew Newman
5th Warren Younan
6th Luke Westall

Race 2

Saw Adam on pole and making another messy start but held 1st place to take the win , Westall mean while drove soild from rear of grid to take 2nd , Kenny was run smoothly in 3rd and Yuonan ran out fifth . the real stroy was from both Newman and Hannan , While Newman was running in battle with Younan on the last lap just 100 meters sort of the flag waving in front of him his driver front wheel bearing locked soild and force the car of the track to a dnf (he could have walked over the line ) his car was undriveable, mean time back on lap 4 Hannan's car was blazing smoke (which the officals did like ) and was meatballed.
His gearbox went for a early lunch .

1, Hughes , 2nd  Westall , 3rd Kenny , 4th Younan , 5th Newman ,6th Hannan dnf

Race 3

Well Adam saved his best till last the worse start in history dropped him to dead last before turn one and behind the feild by sum 50+ meters . Westall made hast in the lead and skipped to a good lead and took to win , by lap Three Hughes made is way back to 2nd but then looped the car at turn nine hairpin to drop back to dead last  mean while Kenny was strom along in 2nd and Yuonan driving and grest race in thrid till lap 8 when he was caught by Hughes and just ran wide on to the straight to drop back to fourth until Kenny was shown the meatball flag for leaking fuel this aided Hughes to 2nd and Yuonan back to 3rd with Kenny into 4th
both Newman and Hannan where non - starters

1st Westall , 2nd Hughes ,3rd Yuonan , 4th Kenny
